On September 7th, the signing ceremony for the cooperation between the School of Environment in Tsinghua University and Xinjiang Academy of Environmental Science was held in the conference room 209 of the Sino-Italian Energy Effient Building.

Director Wang Lin from the Science and Technology Department of Ministry of Education, Director Zhang Hua Ping from the Planning and Finance division of the Environmental Protection Department, Yu Gang, Dean of School of Environment, Du Pengfei, Secretary of the party committee of School of Environment, Jia Erheng, President ofXinjiang Academy of Environmental Science, Vice President Zhao Chenxi and leaders and teachers concerned attended the signing ceremony. Duan Lei, Assistant Dean of School of Environment hosted the signing ceremony.

During the signing ceremony, Director Wang Lin and Director Zhang Huaping respectively made speeches. Their opinions are summarized below. During the twelve five-year plan period, the State Council put forward two options of sustainable development in Xinjiang which are the sustainable development of resources and sustainable development of the eco-environment. The state paid a lot of attention to the environmental protection of the Xinjiang area. The speakers expressed their best wishes to the cooperation between the School of Environment at Tsinghua University and the Xinjiang Environment and Science College and wished them the best on achieving the desirable results.

Jia Erheng hopes through the cooperation together to see the development of the broad platform of the Xinjiang Academy of Environmental Science and that the scientific research capabilities of the School of Environment in Tsinghua University would contribute to the environmental protection of Xinjiang. He also thanked Tsinghua University for its delivery of a number of talents to the Xinjiang development.  Yugang indicated that both the School of Environment, Tsinghua University and Xinjiang Academy of Environmental Science would collaborate on three areas such as research services, cultural heritage and personnel training.

Subsequently, Jia Erheng, President of Xinjiang Academy of Environmental Science and Yudang, Dean of the School of Environment, Tsinghua University co-signed the cooperation agreement.
